Blood flow restriction training involves wrapping a strap like a wrist wrap or knee wrap around the top of a limb at a pressure sufficient to obstruct blow flow to the veins, but not to the arteries. This way the arteries continue to deliver blood to the limb, and the blood pools in the limb as the veins struggle to take it back to the heart. Wrap at a pressure that lifters perceived to be a 7 on a scale of 10 on the legs, and a 5-6 on the arms, reliably occluded the veins but not the arteries. This is as tight as you should go, and no tighter. Select a weight no more than 50% of your usual weight lifted. Best workout routine recommended is 4 sets with reps of 30, 15, 15, 10 with 30 seconds rest between sets. With blood flow restriction training you will see muscle gains in a shorter period of time than in a traditional training.
